Gregory Allen Griffin

Dec 3, 2020 | Obituaries

Gregory Allen Griffin, 62, peacefully departed for Heaven on Monday, Nov 30, 2020 in Rogers, AR.
Greg will be laid to rest on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at Martin Cemetery, north of Trenton, beside his mother and father.
Born in Londonderry, Ireland, he was the son of the late Buel Clarence Griffin and Sheila Elizabeth Griffin (McKeown). He resided in Trenton throughout his younger years.
Gregory, more affectionately known as “Greg” or “Uncy,” was compassionate, empathetic, genial and fun-loving. In the words of his niece, Ali, “He was one of the greatest men to ever grace this earth.”
Growing up a military brat, he developed a love for travel and adventure early on. Moving back to the states, he became enthralled with baseball. He played baseball and football in his hometown of Trenton.
Greg was a self-employed carpenter with amazing talents as a trim carpenter.
As the saying goes, “Dog is a man’s best friend,” and that rang true for Greg and his many, many friends. As his family can recall, every memory of Greg includes a memory of his furry sidekicks, Rags, Annie, Bonnie and Cheyenne. Greg offered the sweetest devotion and care to his pets.
He found joy in life’s simplest treasures: a handwritten letter, game of cards, and warm cup of coffee. Greg was the best listener and valued a good conversation with friends, family and even strangers. No one was lonely in Greg’s company.
He loved his family immensely, and has impacted each survivor tremendously. Through his last few years in and out of medical facilities, his gentle spirit brought out cordiality in his caretakers and sweet friendships were formed.
While his family grieves, they also celebrate the confidence they have in knowing they will see Greg again one day in Heaven as he surrendered his life to Christ in the mid-1990’s.
To quote his infamous tattoo, “Won’t you fly high, free bird?”
He is survived by his two sisters, Louise Kolle and her husband, Greg Kolle of Citrus Heights, CA and Sheila Robinson and her husband, Bill Robinson of Bentonville, AR; one son, Neil Youngs and family, of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction of Slater-Neal Funeral Home of Trenton.
