Benjamin Miles “Ben” Stamper, an 82-year-old Spickard resident, died at 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020 at Saint Luke’s South in Overland Park, KS.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton. Social distancing and masks, and lawn chairs are suggested.
An open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Mr. Stamper was born on Sept. 6, 1938 in Spickard, the son of Froman and Arlie Nichols Stamper. He was married on July 2, 1983 to Henrietta Christowski. He worked for Modine Manufacturing for many years. His favorite pastime was spending time with family. He was very active in Relay for Life and could outwalk them all. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends.
He is survived by his son, Howard Stamper of Liberty; two daughters, Julie Prewitt and her husband, Marty of Bethany and Krista Place and her husband, Russell of Norwalk, IA; two brothers, Jack Stamper and his wife, Marilyn and Gary Stamper and his wife, Debbie; three sisters, Pauline Smith, Colene Davis and Linda Sweany; five grandchildren, Lili Hamilton and her husband, Conner, Paulena Stamper, Jessica Stonecypher and her husband, Jared, Leslie Merriman and her husband, Dan and Russell Place and his wife, Kim; four great-grandchildren, Zeke Stonecypher, Tanner and Anna Merriman and Payton Place; his former wife, Glenda Stamper; a brother-in-law, Henry Christowski Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Henrietta; a brother, Eugene Stamper; sisters, Dixie Lewis and Betty Consolver; and a sister-in-law, Pat Christowski
Memorial donations are sugested to the Grundy County Breast Cancer Support Group. They may be left at or mailed to the Slater-Neal Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
