The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education approved its 2020-21 budget during a meeting on Friday night, June 12 at the school.
According to information provided by Superintendent Rebecca Steinhoff, the district has an anticipated deficit of $247,859 in the new budget, with the deficit due to the new addition now under construction at the school. The budget shows anticipated revenues of $1,729,779 and expenditures anticipated at $1,977,638.
The board also made amendments to the 2019-20 budget to reflect actual revenues and expenditures for the year. The board approved a transfer of money from Fund 1 to Fund 2 to zero-out the Fund 2 balance.
The board voted to roll over a $330,000 certificate of deposit from Farmers State Bank to the district’s money market account at BTC Bank. Approval was given to a policy change regarding the administration of medication for the 2020-21 school year as well as to a conflict of interest ordinance for all school board members.
The board set the 2020 tax rate hearing for Tuesday, Aug. 11, with the hearing to be held prior to the regular monthly board meeting.
The board heard an update on various projects, including resurfacing of the playground, library floor work, the new addition and general maintenance work. Mrs. Steinhoff reported that Early Childhood Special Education summer school will be held from July 6 to July 23 with 28 students anticipated to attend.
There will be no board meeting in July. The next meeting will be on Aug. 11.
