Jerry Dean Stevens, an 83-year-old Bethany resident, passed died at 5:41 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Liberty Hospital.
The body will be cremated with memorial services at a later date.
Mr. Stevens was born Dec. 29, 1936 in Trenton, the son of Edward and Viola Corbin Stevens. He was married at Princeton on June 4, 1961 to Bettie Alice Shaw. He worked for many years as a bus mechanic for Princeton High School and then as a janitor at the school. He later worked in maintenance at Premium Standard in Princeton. Through most all of his life he also farmed around the Princeton area.
Every year the couple looked forward to taking a vacation in the Rocky Mountains. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and did all until his health would not allow. He was also a talented musician, playing the guitar and other instruments with his family.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Bettie of Bethany; two sons, Jeremy Stevens and his companion, Becky Anderson of Princeton and James Stevens of Independence; and three grandson, Jeff and Kirby Stevens and Alex Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Clifford; and two sisters, Elva Mae Betz and Lucille Wilson.
Memorial donations may be made to Martin Cemetery and left with or mailed to Slater-Neal Funeral Home in Trenton.
