Betty Alsie Watson Sager, a 93-year-old Trenton resident, died at 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Eastview Manor Care Center of Trenton.
There will be a private graveside service at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Mrs. Sager was born on Oct. 29, 1926 in Wayne County, IA, the daughter of Una Williams and Cassius H. ”Cash” Watson. She graduated from Sewell High School in Sewell, IA. She attended Centerville Teachers College and was a one-room school teacher in rural Wayne County. She was married on Feb. 12, 1946 to Norman E. Sager of Seymour, IA. They were married in Santa Ana, CA as Norman was a marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. She worked at the Camp Pendleton post exchange. At the end of his enlistment, they returned to Iowa, where they farmed. They then moved to Pitzer, IA and operated the phone company. They eventually made their home in Trenton.
Betty was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She completed many years of volunteer service, especially at the North 65 Senior Center and NW Nutria Board. She served as an election judge for many years. Betty enjoyed her life, family and friends. She wanted to be remembered for her kindness and service. Betty loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and Aunt B. Her family was her pride and joy.
Those left to mourn her death include her children, Norman “Dean” Sager and his wife, Pam of Trenton, Fred Sager and his wife, Genene of Springfield, Don Sager and his wife, Karen of Trenton, Dennis Sager of Trenton and Becky Hall and her husband, Gary of Trenton; her grandchildren, Sarah Sager, Tamara Brown and her husband, Josh, Camie Perrymore and her husband, David, Anne Daviess and her husband, Aaron, Martha Sager Rodriguez and her husband, Leonard, Adam Sager and his wife, Sherry, Craig Sager and his wife, Meagan, Cary Sager and his wife, Misty, David Sager, Brian Sager, Christopher Sager and Josh Hall; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Mark Sager; a sister-in-law, Jan Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; a brother, Doyle Watson and his wife, Opal; her sister, Ruby Warren and her husband, Kermit; a grandson, Aaron E. Sager; and daughter-in-law, Annette Sager.
Memorial donations may be made to the North Central Missouri College Foundation Scholarship Fund.
