Thrift Shop Set To Open May 18

May 11, 2020 | Headline News

Church Women United has announced plans to re-open its thrift shop on 17th Street on Monday, May 18.
Business hours will be noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 9 a.m to noon on Saturday.
The thrift shop will be open subject to non-essential business guidelines as outlined by the Grundy County Health Department. The guidelines include::
• no more than 10 persons (workers and customers) in the main shopping area at one time.
• all volunteers and customers must wear face masks or coverings.
• no open bathrooms and, if used, the bathroom must be sanitized after each use.
• both the counter and door knobs must be sanitized with each change in customer.
• social distancing must be maintained.
Additional Church Women United guidelines include:
• a sign-up sheet for the order in which 32 shoppers per hour may enter the shopping area will be set up outside of the thrift shop building.
• customers will be allowed in at a rate of eight people for 15 minutes at a time, with one checker and one floor person to meet the 10-person health department rules. After 13 minutes, a call for checkout will be announced so shoppers can maintain the 15-minute limit.
• children will be discouraged from entering the thrift shop during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the limited number of people allowed in the building at one time.
• customers not following the rules or causing a disturbance will be asked to leave the area.
