Tri-County R-7 seniors will graduate on Sunday, June 7 following action taken by the board of education during a meeting on Thursday night.
According to information provided by Superintendent David Probasco, the ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. at the ballpark and would be moved to the gymnasium in case of inclement weather. A decision on whether or not to move the event would be made the night before. If an indoor ceremony is held, seating would be limited based on social distancing guidelines in place at the time.
Prom was tentatively set for Friday, June 5, pending results of a student survey and the status of social distancing guidelines. There was discussion for holding summer school and/or changing the start of classes for the 2020-21 school year. The board is planning to meet on June 1 to finalize plans for prom, graduation and the summer school/calendar revisions.
The board approved reopening daycare on May 11 as well as extending the current food service program through the end of May. Bids are to be sought for occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech services. Summer projects, maintenance and the budget were discussed, with no action taken.
Reorganization of the board was held, with Brent Dustman, Jeremy Turner and Trent Brewer being sworn in and officers re-elected, including Heath Cook as president, Luke Skinner as vice president, Turner as treasurer and Jennifer Simons as secretary. An executive session was held, with no announcement made.
The next regular meeting of the board will be at 6 p.m. on June 10 in the superintendent’s office at the school in Jamesport.
