Eugene “Gene” Knapp, a 91-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Private graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
An open visitation will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton.
Mr. Knapp was born on Feb. 7, 1929 at Independence, the son of Homer E. and Ethel M. Billingsley Knapp. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. Before retiring he was self-employed as a mechanic.
He was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church at Trenton.
He was married at Trenton on May 30, 1953 to Mary Lee Kimsey.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; four sons, Randy Knapp and his wife, Carmen of Easley, S.C., Keith Knapp and his wife, Missy of Trenton, Larry Knapp and his wife, Cindy of Overland Park, KS and Danny Knapp of Trenton; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Knapp; two sisters, Beulah Dowell and Betty Parks; and two brothers, Truman Knapp and Donald Knapp.
Memorials are suggested to Saint Luke’s Home Health and Hospice and may be left at or mailed to the mortuary.
