Two lettered routes are being resurfaced in the area beginning next week.
Herzog Contracting Corp. will do both projects, with the first one getting under way on Friday, March 27 on Route J in Daviess and Caldwell counties. The resurfacing work will take place between Highway 6 in Altamont and Highway 36 in Caldwell County. Flaggers and a pilot car will be used to direct motorists around the lane closure, with one lane of Highway 36 at Route J also expected to be closed. The Route J work is expected to take approximately one week and a 10-foot width restriction will be in place.
The second project will be on Route Z in Grundy County. Resurfacing will be done from Highway 6 to Highway 65 and will start on Friday, April 3, continuing through Tuesday, April 7. Route J will be closed between county roads and, depending on how work is progressing, the closure could occur on Saturday and Sunday as well.
Following the two paving operations, crews will stripe both routes. All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
