A fire of unknown origin destroyed the Red Barn Wedding Venue and Event Center at 200 Iowa Blvd. on Saturday night. Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District Fire Chief Kenny Roberts said firemen were called out around midnight and found the structure fully engulfed upon arrival. The cause of the fire is undetermined, however, it is not believed to be suspicious in nature. The North Central Missouri College Foundation had held its “Pirates Ball” at the venue earlier in the evening and the last person had left the building around 10 p.m. Firemen were at the scene around two hours. Assisting the fire protection district were the Trenton Fire Department and the Grundy County Ambulance. The venue is owned by the Mike Cooksey family.
