Grundy Girls Advance To Semifinals

Three Grundy County Panthers scored their 1,000th career point in the month of February. Aubrey Gann, left, reached the milestone on Feb. 24 against Northwestern while her brother Caden Gann, center, achieved the feat on Feb. 11 against East Harrison. Jandie Peterson, right, got the run started, scoring her 1,000th career point on Feb. 4 against Gilman City. Aubrey Gann and Peterson are both seniors while Caden Gann is a junior.

The Grundy R-5 girls blew past Northwestern in the opening round of the Class 1, District 12 Tournament in Meadville on Monday, 77-57.
Jandie Peterson led the way with 20 points for Grundy (20-5) while Aubrey Gann followed with 18, surpassing 1,000 points for her career. Anna Milazzo added 16 points and Bri Carpio had 15.
Grundy was in semifinal action on Thursday, playing host school Meadville.

Green City boys 88, Grundy boys 56: The Grundy boys saw their season end on Tuesday, falling to Green City in the opening round of the Class 1, District 12 Tournament at Meadville.
Cooper Lewis led the Panthers (10-16) with 25 points while Caden Gann added 10 and Logan Foster scored nine.

Mercer girls 39, Princeton girls 32: The Mercer girls knocked off top-seeded Princeton in the Class 1, District 14 semifinals on Wednesday at the Ketcham Community Center.
Tori Meinecke had 21 points to pace Mercer (16-10) while Rainey Michael finished with 11 points.
Mercer will play Pattonsburg for the district title on Saturday. Tipoff from the KCC is set for 1:30 p.m.
Princeton (14-12) was led by 14 points from Lauren Krohn while Lindsey Batson added eight.
