Feb 26, 2020 | Headline News

The Trenton Lions Club met on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall. George Moore, acting president, led the pledge to the flag, followed by prayer by Rev. Steve Martin. Dr. John Holcomb served as “tail twister.”
George Moore introduced Micah Landes, executive director for the North Central Missouri Development Alliance, who told about the activities of the organization. Funded in part by local investors, the City of Trenton and Grundy County resources, NCMDA is tasked with recruiting businesses, helping existing businesses expand, and developing community vitality. Since being named as executive director in 2017, Mrs. Landes highlighted several accomplishments, including two job fairs, the ConAgra purchase by Nestle, new NCMDA offices in the downtown area, implementation of the Trenton Main Street grant, a downtown “incubator” store (Main Street Mercantile), and working with 55 new clients. Backed by a board consisting of community and county volunteers, Mrs. Landes and NCMDA offer assistance with business plans and marketing expertise. NCMDA will be working this year on Tax Increment Financing for the new Orscheln’s, filling spaces in the Eastgate Shopping Center, expanding businesses located within Main Street Mercantile, continuation of “Food Truck Wednesday,” opening new restaurants and expansion of Black Silo Winery.
The next meeting of the Trenton Lions Club will be a business meeting at noon on Tuesday, March 3.
