Bulldogs Fend Off Richmond, Advance To Semifinals
In the Class 3, District 14 quarterfinals in Chillicothe on Monday night, Trenton survived Richmond, ending the Spartans’ season with a 43-32 victory.
Trenton jumped out to a 15-10 first quarter lead behind a balanced scoring attack. After the Bulldogs lost a point off their lead in the second quarter, Maci Moore went to work in the third.
Moore knocked down a three-pointer early in the frame then proceeded to tack on 13 more points for a 16-point quarter. Trenton’s lead, seven points at halftime, swelled to 39-27 as a result. The Bulldogs limited Richmond to just five points over the game’s final eight minutes to extend their season to at least on Wednesday.
Trenton was paced by Moore, who finished the game with 27 points. Kendall Crowley scored eight points and Chandler Lynch and Lexi Whitaker each finished with four points.
At 14-11, Trenton will now face Brookfield in the district semifinals on Wednesday. Tipoff in Chillicothe is scheduled for 7 p.m.
