Trenton High School will be sending five wrestlers to the MSHSAA Wrestling Tournament in Columbia this weekend.
The tournament will be held in Missouri arena, getting under way on Thursday and continuing through Saturday. First-round matchups on Thursday for Trenton wrestlers, who will compete in Class 1, include:
103 – Hunter McAtee, freshman, 40-4 vs. Clancey Woodward of Mid-Buchanan, freshman, 27-19.
113 – Garvin Chambers, freshman, 22-20 vs. Baylor Myers of Butler, freshman, 29-16.
138 – Coleman Griffin, freshman, 27-16 vs. Xavier Smith of Hancock, junior, 26-9.
182 – Mark Trump, senior, 37-7 vs. Cade Killingsworth of Lawson, senior, 19-2.
220 – Caleb Johnson, sophomore, 28-12 vs. Quazavion Jackson of New Madrid Central, junior, 24-3.
Class 1 and 2 first round matches begin at 9 a.m., with first-round wrestlebacks to follow. Class 1 and 2 quarterfinals, followed by second round wrestle backs, begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, with all classes (1-4) of semifinal matches taking place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Third round wrestlebacks will follow the semifinal matches.
Saturday’s schedule includes fourth round wrestle backs for all classes at 8:30 a.m. and third- and fifth-place matches for all classes at 11:30 a.m. The championship matches for all classes get under way at following the girls championships at 4:30 p.m.
