Joy Powell, a 97-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at her home.
The body was cremated under the direction of the Roberson Funeral Home of Princeton. A Celebration of Life and inurnment will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Powell was born on Feb. 5, 1923 in Harris, the daughter of Ora Frank and Hope Golden Haley. She graduated in 1941 from Princeton High School
She was married on June 4, 1941 to William Andrew “Bill” Powell, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Princeton. She enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by three sons, Jon (Elaine) Powell of Princeton, Dean (Leona) Powell of New Bloomfield and Tom (Deanna) Powell of Trenton; a daughter-in-law, Ila Rhea Powell of Princeton; 11 grandchildren, Wendy (Tim) Wilson, Dusty (Shawn) Bowman, Shawn (Toni) Powell, Jamie (Jason) Haines, Kevin (Candace) Powell, Christian (Jenny) Powell, Nathan (Ashlie) Powell, Matthew (Marcell) Powell, Annie (Brian) McCabe, Beth (Daniel) Anderson and Catie (Charlie) Pedersen; 27 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and nine great-great-grandchildren and three on the way.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Andy Powell; a sister, Amber Stiles; two great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, Kayson Wilson.
