Rosetta Sawyer, a 96-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2019 at the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton. She was a long-time employee of the Trenton Republican-Times newspaper.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Private burial will be at a later date at the South Evans Cemetery.
A family visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until service time on Monday at the mortuary.
Ms. Sawyer was born on May 14, 1923, the daughter of Alpha and Norris Sawyer. She attended Trenton High School and Trenton Junior College. She graduated from Kirksville State Teaching College in 1953. After teaching in local rural schools, she began employment at the Trenton Republican-Times in 1967. She retired as a business manager in 1990.
Ms. Sawyer was an active member of the Gamma Kappa chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of the Trenton chapter of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid bowler. Quilting was one of her special talents.
She is survived by her brother, Paul Sawyer of Trenton, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Floyd Sawyer, Delvin Sawyer and Dwayne Sawyer.
Memorial donations are suggested to the South Evans Cemetery and can be left with or mailed to the mortuary.
