Icy roads were blamed for two accidents investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Mercer County on Monday morning.
The first accident occurred at 6:05 a.m. near the intersection of Main and High streets in Princeton. The patrol said an SUV was westbound on Main Street when it slid off the road, then traveled off the north side of the road and struck an embankment, overturning. The driver, 76-year-old Karla Dinsmore of Princeton, received minor injuries and was transported by the Mercer County Ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton for treatment. The car received extensive damage. Mrs. Dinsmore was wearing a safety device.
The second accident occurred at 6:10 a.m. on Highway 136, two miles east of Princeton. The patrol said an SUV was east and slid off the road, striking a culvert and a traffic sign before overturning two times. The vehicle then came to rest on its top. The driver, 20-year-old Kelly Boothe of Princeton, was taken by the Mercer County Ambulance to Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza for treatment. The vehicle was demolished. Ms. Boothe was not wearing a safety device.
Both accidents were investigated by Trooper J.E. Hainey.
