at Tri-County girls 44, Osborn girls 37: Tri-County toppled Osborn on Friday (Dec. 13) in Jamesport, knocking the Wildcats from the ranks of the unbeatens. Osborn was 4-0 entering the game and had just won the Platte Valley Invitational Tournament.
Tri-County (3-2) was paced by 11 points and nine rebounds from Destiny Gutshall. Rikki Cook had eight points and seven rebounds and Bailee Hoover pulled down seven rebounds as well.
“Our defense was the key to our victory Friday,” Mustangs’ coach Jeremy Slaughter said. “If we can play that type of defense every night then we can become a difficult team to beat.”
Tri-County travels to union Star tonight.

Osborn boys 54, at Tri-County boys 38: Tri-County’s boys were on the losing end against Osborn, falling by 16 points at home in Jamesport on Friday (Dec. 13).
Jakob Ybarra led Tri-County (1-4) with 12 points and Jaxson Waterbury added nine.

Mercer girls 72, at Mormon Trail girls 15: Mercer’s girls were able to relieve some frustrations that came from three-straight losses by dismantling Mormon Trail on the road in Humeston, IA on Monday night.
Aubrey Wilson scored 31 points to lead Mercer (2-3) while Rainey Michael scored 19 points and Tori Meinecke and Kaylee Duckworth each added 10.
Mercer hosts Tri-County in a key early-season HDC Conference match-up on Thursday and the Mercer girls will be in action at NCMC’s Holiday Hoops in Trenton on Friday, Dec. 27 taking on the Chillicothe junior varsity at 8:30 p.m.
Mercer boys 62, at Mormon Trail boys 32: The Mercer boys had no trouble moving to 5-0 on the season on Monday night, defeating Mormon Trail in Humeston, IA by 30 points.
Camden Hartley scored 27 points to pace the Cardinals, which also got 13 from Isaiah Morgana and 10 from Jon Johnson.
Mercer hosts Tri-County on Thursday and will be at NCMC’s Holiday Hoops in Trenton on Monday, facing off with Sacred Heart in a boys-only match-up at 2:30 p.m.
