E.W. Browning III, a 56-year-old resident of rural Marshall, died on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall with Rev. Andy Mockridge officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery in Shackelford.
A family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 at the church.
Mr. Browning was born on Oct. 9, 1963 in Trenton, the son of E.W. “Red” Browning Jr. and Donna Ree Kidwell Browning. He graduated from Grundy R-5 High School in 1982 and then from Trenton Junior College with an associate degree in ag business.
He was married on Dec. 18, 1983 to Rhonda McCully, who survives of the home. He lived in Saline County the last 30 years where he had worked as the mill manager at Ham Hill Farms, and for the last 20 years at Weber Seeds as the seed plant manager.
He was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Grand Pass; Trilumina Masonic Lodge No. 205, AF&AM in Marshall; a member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation, having served as president of the Saline County Strutters Club; and numerous agricultural organizations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Justin (Dorrian) Browning of rural Marshall, Jason (Madison) Browning of Savannah, and Jessica (Austin) Shaver of Marshall; three grandchildren: Hunter, Hannah and Reid Browning; two sisters, Lisa (Steve) Dryer of Medina, OH, and Ginger (Rob) Murphy of Jamesport; his mother-in-law, Lila (Butch) Neill of Trenton; two brothers-in-law, Bobby (Ali) McCully of Milan and Donnie (Jennifer) McCully of Trenton; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Haley Browning; his father-in-law, Donald McCully; and a brother-in-law, Ronnie McCully.
Memorials are suggested to Marshall FFA Alumni for the E.W. Browning Scholarship Fund or Kansas City Hospice House. They can be left at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, which is in charge of arrangements.
