The “Paint for a Cause” state Bicentennial project brought out artists of all ages during the Missouri Day Festival weekend. A total of 736 panel spaces were painted during the three-day period, with the panel scheduled to become a part of a display in Jefferson City to celebrate Missouri’s 200th birthday in 2021.

Despite a rainy Saturday morning and cool weekend temperatures, the 2019 Missouri Day Festival has been termed a success by festival officials.
Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce Director Debbie Carman said crowds were down a bit from years past, but those who did attend were able to take in the various events held in and around the community. At the festival grounds, most vendors reported good sales, especially on Sunday, when sunny skies brought out a large number of visitors. She noted several vendors have already put in their applications to take part in the 2020 festival, which will be a two-day event.
The “Paint For a Cause” project drew a lot of interest from the community, according to Dan Maxey, who helped bring the Bicentennial project to Trenton. He said that 736 of the 1,729 spaces on the panel were painted by individuals ranging from four months to 96 years of age. The project was located at The Space in downtown Trenton. The panel will be included with other panels being painted by residents from around the state and will eventually be on display in the Truman Building in Jefferson City as part of the state’s 200th birthday anniversary in 2021.
