TMS Ends Season With Loss

Oct 15, 2019 | Football, Sports & Recreation

The Trenton Middle School football team fell 14-12 to South Harrison on the road in Bethany on Monday night, ending their season with a 4-2 overall record.
Trenton led 12-0 entering the fourth quarter after Gabe Stark scored on runs of 55 and seven yards. The Bulldogs were unable to score on either 2-point conversion attempt, however, and that would be a factor in the game’s outcome.
South Harrison hit Trenton with a passing touchdown and successful 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter and then scored a second touchdown on another pass, this one coming on the last play of the game to steal the win.
“The boys played a great football game,” Trenton Head Coach Jon Guthrie said. “We struggled to cover the pass late in the game and it caught up with us. Defensively we shut down the run and played very physical, though.
“Overall, I’m proud of the boys this fall. Finishing 4-2 is a very good accomplishment. The eighth graders showed great unity and character throughout the season. I’m very excited for their future at THS.”
