Trenton Third At Centralia Tournament

Oct 7, 2019 | Softball, Sports & Recreation

Trenton placed third at the Centralia Tournament on Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated North Callaway 16-1 in the opening round before falling 6-5 to Macon in the semifinals. Trenton wrapped up the event, defeating Hallsville 3-2 in the third-place game.
Trenton used the longball throughout the tournament to produce runs. Maci Moore led off the tournament opener with a home run and clubbed a grand slam in the same inning as Trenton jumped all over the Thunderbirds. Lexi Whitaker had a grand slam in the opening game as well, but was really big for Trenton in the third-place contest. There Whitaker hit two more home runs, both big, as the Bulldogs took the game by a single run.
Moore, Trenton’s all-time home run leader, now sits at 22 home runs for her career, while Whitaker, third on the list, has hit 17.
Trenton moved to 13-6 overall on the season with the 2-1 showing at the Centralia Tournament. Trenton was on the road in Marceline on Monday and comes home tonight (Tuesday), playing host to Brookfield. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
