The Building and Nuisance Board took action on several properties at its meeting on Monday night.
Property at 1922 Oak St. had its certificate of existence of a dangerous building removed after it was determined all issues had been resolved. The property is owned by Benjamin Williams.
Properties on which a declaration of nuisance was made included 1004 Laclede, owned by T&F Enterprises LLC of Cameron; 1814 Hillcrest, owned by Mike Arnold; and 213 W. Sixth St., owned by Bob Lewis. Moved to a public hearing were proprieties at 1011 Custer St., owned by Birdie Wilson and Rose Ralston, and 2113 Mabel St., owned by George and Bonnie Gott. Property at 809 Main St., owned by Daniel Harkins, was moved to findings of fact while properties at 309 E. Crowder Road, owned by Trent Hansuld, and 401 E. Seventh St., owned by Tuyen and Nancy Vu, were moved to certificate of existence of dangerous building.
Property at 813 Olive St., owned by Denise Jones and others, was given a 30-day extension to finish work currently under way. The board also heard from Juan Gallegos concerning property he owns at 923 Custer St., but took no action.
Chris Hoffman and Wendell Lenhart, representing the Main Street Economic Vitality Committee, spoke to members of the board regarding the committee’s efforts to inventory downtown buildings and assist with getting them ready as business locations. They told of two programs available to help current business owners with property upgrades, including a $5,000 matching grant program through the Main Street program for facade work as well as low-interest loans through the Trenton Downtown Improvement Association. Attending the meeting with Hoffman and Lenhart were Main Street/TDIA Director Megan Derry and North Central Missouri Development Alliance Director Micah Landes.
