With just three golfers in action, Trenton was unable to post a team score. Maci Henson put together a strong day at the tournament, however, shooting a 105. She started a little slow with a front-nine 58, but bounced back to shoot 47 on the back nine.
“Anytime you can get to another course it just prepares you for down the road at districts,” Trenton Coach Travis Mullenix said. “Maci played really well. I was hoping she would kind of use this as an opportunity to start getting herself ready for districts. She had a really good back nine. She kind of struggled on the front, but I was really happy with her shooting a 105. That is a good spot for her to be in right now.”
Trenton got a 134 from Josie Chumbley, who had nine-hole splits of 68 and 66, and a 136 from Mari Atup, who carded nine-hole marks of 70 and 66.
MARCELINE
Henson led the way for Trenton at Monday’s home dual, shooting a 52 to claim medalist honors. She also had Trenton’s only par of the day, taking a four on the second hole at the RCC.
“I was happy for Maci earning her first medalist honor,” Mullenix said. “She’s worked hard to improve her game, so it was nice to see her play well.”
Behind Henson, Trenton got twin 66’s from Atup and Chumbley. Marceline would post a score of 243. Had Trenton had a fourth golfer available, the Bulldogs would have needed a score of just 58 to win the dual.
Trenton traveled to the Gallatin Quad on Thursday and will be in Gallatin again on Tuesday, competing at the Gallatin Tournament.
