The Final Word – Welcome Home Alumni

By Diane Lowrey
Welcome home Trenton High School alumni.
This weekend marks the 55th annual celebration, where graduates of THS gather for special activities planned throughout the weekend. The 2019 event includes a home football game against Lathrop and an all-class mixer at Riverside Country Club on Friday, an open house on Saturday morning and a Sunday brunch in the THS commons and the traditional all-alumni dance at the Black Silo on Saturday night. Add to that the individual class reunions and it makes for a busy Labor Day weekend.
A list of scheduled alumni activities appeared in Tuesday’s Republican-Times and is also listed on the newspaper website, www.republican-times.com (it can be viewed for free by anyone) as well as on the Republican-Times Facebook page. Alumni are reminded to bring their class news to the newspaper any time over the Labor Day weekend (you can leave it in the foyer through the front doors) or email it to us at [email protected]. We will be publishing an overall alumni story, along with photos, in our Wednesday, Sept. 3 edition, with the class news being published beginning with our Friday, Sept. 6 edition. We ask that classes not wait for photos before submitting their information. Photos will be published on a space-available basis and no guarantee is made as to having class reunion information and photos published together.
Questions? Give me a call at the newspaper, 359-2212, during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).

Main Street Trenton and the Downtown Improvement Association are teaming up for an event on Saturday, Sept. 7 that will be held in conjunction with the Green Hills Women’s Shelter Mean Bean Bag Toss.
“Beer, Bags and BBQ” takes place in the downtown area and includes not only the bean bag toss at Chumbley’s Hometown Billards, but a “Beer Run, Walk or Crawl” that begins at Five Points and continues to Chumbley’s, as well as a meal at The Space. There will also be vendors set up in the downtown area. Details about the “Beer, Bags and BBQ” event appear on the Main Street Trenton Facebook page and in advertising in next week’s R-T (entry fees are associated with the beer run, vendor set-up and meal).
