A Trenton man is facing two felony charges and two misdemeanor charges after being involved in an accident on Hunter Road early Saturday morning.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Mark W. Trump, 49, has been charged with first degree property damage, a class E felony; leaving the scene of an accident with property damage exceeding $1,000, a class E felony; second degree property damage, a class B misdemeanor; and driving while intoxicated, also a class B misdemeanor.
The charges stem from an accident in which Trump allegedly drove his truck into a parked car owned by Alyssa Gibson, pushing it approximately 80 feet. He then left the scene of the accident without notifying the car’s owner or law enforcement and drove his vehicle into the lawn of a residence owned by Larry Smith in the 2700 block of Hunter Road. The vehicle struck a culvert in that yard. Trump was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred. He has posted $4,000 cash-only bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 27.
