Warren Eugene Griffin, an 84-year-old Trenton resident, died at 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 at home, where he was under hospice care.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 at the mortuary.
Mr. Griffin was born on Sept. 29, 1934 near Spickard, the son of Hugh and Vicy Dinsmore Griffin. He graduated from Princeton High School.
He was married on Feb. 20, 1954 to Vera Curtis of Modena. He hauled milk until he began working at Modine Manufacturing. He then went to work for the Missouri Highway Department in 1973. He retired in 1997 after 24 years of service. He enjoyed going to Trenton sporting events of all kinds. He was known among the players for his Werther’s candy and was always willing to share.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Curtis Griffin of Trenton; four children, Fred Griffin and his wife, Patsy of Trenton, Vickie Heuett of Cameron, Frank Griffin and his wife, Sue of Trenton and Kathy Jenkins and her husband, Mike of Bolivar; a sister, Anna May Purvis; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Wayne; one nephew, Mark Griffin; and one son-in-law, Rolo Heuett.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the “Trenton Booster Club” or an organization of the donor’s choice. They can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
