Judy Dye

Aug 19, 2019 | Obituaries

Julia Ann “Judy” Dye, a 71-year-old resident of Port Wing, WI and formerly of Cedar Rapids and Olin, IA and Trenton, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 after an extended illness.
Per her wishes, Ms. Dye has been cremated. A Celebration of Life has been planned at Judy’s favorite place, their lake home in Port Wing, at a later date.
Judy was born on Oct. 2, 1947, in Trenton, to the late James R. Sr. and Juanita Ellis Dye. She was a 1965 graduate of Trenton High School and spent the majority of her working career at Quaker Oats, including 43 years in Cedar Rapids, prior to her retirement in 2010. She was the first female trained to do a “man’s job” as a forklift operator. The friends she made at Quaker Oats held a special place in her heart.
Judy had great faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she took with her everywhere and shared with many. She knew that without him she would have never survived, because he gave her strength in her time of need.
Judy loved fishing, camping, watching sports on TV, spending time near the lake and her pets. She was a very generous person, had a quick wit and was a wonderful story teller. Her humor and personality will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her partner and caregiver, Valerie “Val” Helmick (and everyone in Val’s family); sister, Carol (Larry) Meeks; nieces, Laurie Douglas, Heather (Stan) Ehrhardt, Rachael Dye (Scott) Arney; three great-nephews, Chandler Ehrhardt, Tyler Ehrhardt and Mason Arney; sister-in-law, Debbie Dye; and numerous cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her brother, James “Jimmy” R. Dye Jr.; maternal aunts, A. Lorraine (Dale) Allsup and H. Jean (Eddie) Hague; and paternal uncle, Billie Jack Dye.
