Rotary Club Hears About Europe Trip

Amy Currie shared information about a recent trip to Europe during the program presented at the Thursday, Aug. 16 meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club. Jeff Crowley was the program chairman.
Mrs. Currie was one of six individuals from Trenton who traveled to Rome and Florence, Italy as well as Paris ,France for a week-long visit organized through World Strides, the company used by the late Donalyn Crowley for student trips to Washington DC and Philadelphia, PA as well as community trips to other destinations. Mrs. Currie and her husband, Josh have assumed the role of local organizers for those trips. The May 27-June 4 trip included Mr. and Mrs. Currie as well as Jeff Crowley and his daughter, Kendall and Tammie Spencer and her daughter, Sarah. The group visited several points of interest, including the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Tuscan Valley in Italy and the Eiffel Tower, the Arc De Triomphe and The Louvre in France. They also visited the home and gardens of  French painter Claude Monet. The next planned trip will take place on June 5-18, 2021 and will include stops in London, Paris, Lucerne, Zurich, Munich, Prague, Dresden and Berlin. During the business meeting, it was announced that the theme for the Missouri Day Festival is “Missouri Day Embraces the Past, Looks to The Future.” The club will again organize the parade, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19. Members were reminded of the annual club fish fry on Sept. 21, which will be held at the Rock Barn and will feature musical entertainment by a local DJ. Ticket information will be announced later. Tim Michael distributed information regarding to Rotary district raffles being held to raise money for the Rotary Foundation.
Michael Ormsby will be the program chairman for the Aug. 22 meeting. Troy Slagle of Grundy Electric Cooperative will discuss the fiber optic installation program under way in Trenton.
