Allan Jackson Sharp, an 82-year-old Trenton resident, died at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019 at his residence, where he was under hospice care.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 at the Edinburg Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Open visitation is under way at the Slater-Neal Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mr. Sharp was born on Nov. 25, 1936 in Trenton, the son of Luster May and Alma Rosetta Brown Sharp. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1955. He was married on Nov. 7, 1959 at Brimson to Judy Campbell. He worked for 36 years with Missouri Public Service until retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church, where he served as superintendent. He coached and umpired many baseball games and enjoyed going on fishing trips with his grandchildren and doing any outdoor activities.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home; a daughter, Teresa Vandevender and her husband, Keith of Trenton; two sons, Greg Sharp and his wife, Cheryl, of Liberty and Matt Sharp and his wife, Rebecca of Independence; a twin sister, Alice Wegenka of Atlantic, IA; a sister, Roberta Sayer of Galt; a brother, Junior Sharp and his wife, Mary of Savannah; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jerry, Woodson, Bob, Jimmy, Donnie and Sterling; and sisters, Mary Lou Smith, Verelle Goin and Lois Jean Bosley.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Edinburg Baptist Church. They may be left with or mailed to the Slater-Neal Funeral Home at 813 Custer St., Trenton, MO 64683.
