The Grundy R-5 Board of Education set its tax rate and approved lunch prices during a meeting on Tuesday night.
According to information provided by Superintendent Phil Fox, the levy in the R-5 School District for 2019 will be $5.9207, which is the same as last year. Lunch prices were increased by 10 cents for the 2019-20 school year, with elementary students paying $2.50 and middle school/high school students paying $2.60.
The board approved the eligibility criteria for free and reduced lunches as well as the special education compliance plan for the district. Also approved were the preliminary bus routes, the Annual Secretary of the Board Report and the high school and elementary handbooks.
The board directed administration to investigate and purchase a van for school use. The board heard a transportation report, that included bus and driver readiness as well as installation of new bus radios and bases. Other reports given included the district audit on Aug. 5, maintenance at the elementary and high school buildings and school finances. The board also had the first reading of three policy updates.
An executive session was held for personnel, with the board accepting the resignation of Jessica Parsons as a paraprofessional. Extra duty contracts were approved for Jessica Gannon as a bus monitor at the rate of $10 per hour and to Jennifer Dyer to teach fifth and sixth grade math.
