Shirley Devoe “Granny” Brinnen, an 81-year-old Trenton resident, died on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 at her home in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Her body is to be cremated following the services. Burial will be at a later date at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Brinnen was born on Dec. 6, 1937 in Myers Township, the daughter of Denver and Bula Abbigail Swopes Stottlemyre. She graduated from Galt High School in 1955. For many years she worked in sales with Pamida. She enjoyed being around her family and enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sporting events.
Mrs. Brinnen was a faithful member of the Ricky Van Shelton fan club, a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church and the Humphreys Willing Workers Club.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Janean Bankson and her husband, Bob of Trenton; a son, Willard Bennett and his wife, Penny of Milan; grandchildren, Corey Bennett and his wife, Hillary, Ashley Hertzog and her significant other, Jordan Goddard, Tyler Allen and his significant other, Jennifer Shuler, Nicole Allen and her significant other, Casey Chapman, and Brandon Bennett; step-grandchildren, Felisha Bentch and her husband, Steve and Scott Richardson; 13 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Nolan Bennett; and a brother, Jerry Stottlemyre.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Edinburg Baptist Church. They may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
