A former Trenton resident was sentenced in the Livingston County Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 2 to a total of 35 years in the Department of Corrections for his involvement in a November 2017 accident that claimed the life of a Chillicothe woman and injured his daughter.
Shawn Yuille will serve 30 years on a charge of second degree murder and five years on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges, according to the court, are to run consecutively. Yuille had pleaded guilty to the charges in April.
Yuille was the driver of a truck that hit a vehicle driven by Danette Rardon as it was traveling on Washington Street near Calhoun Street in downtown Chillicothe. According to the original report, Yuille had inhaled an air duster prior to the accident and had passed out. The truck had been traveling approximately 84 miles an hour in a 25 mph zone when it ran a red light and struck the driver’s side of the Rardon vehicle as it was turning onto Washington Street.
In addition to Ms. Rardon’s death, the accident also resulted in serious injuries to Yuille’s daughter, Izzabella, who was a passenger in the Yuille vehicle. The original accident report stated she was not restrained within the vehicle at the time of the crash.
