Donor Seeds Fund For Disaster Relief Help

Jun 14, 2019 | Headline News

A donor has seeded a fund through the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri to provide disaster relief, particularly for flood victims in northwest Missouri.
The fund will provide natural disaster recovery assistance to northwest Missouri through grants to non-profit organizations that address high-priority community needs.
The out-of-state donor was looking for a community foundation in the area to disperse these funds. The donor stated that he is familiar with community foundations and likes the model foundations provide for charitable giving. The donor has given to community foundations in different parts of the country for the purpose of distributing funds where they are most needed.
“We are humbled by this opportunity to help flood victims at this critical time,” Board Chairman Jim Blackford said. “Our hope is other donors will add to this fund so we can react to the natural disaster needs of our region.”
The Community Foundation serves the 18 counties of northwest Missouri through regional collaboration, increasing the power of charitable giving and philanthropy to transform the region into an economically vibrant area.
