Carolyn June Brown Byrd, a 74-year-old Trenton resident, died at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Her body was cremated under the direction of Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. A family visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the mortuary, with a Celebration of Life ceremony to follow.
Mrs. Byrd was born April 16, 1945 in Mill Grove, the daughter of Jack D. and Margie Rockhold Brown. She graduated from Princeton High School and received a nursing degree from Kansas City, KS, Community College. After graduation she worked at Bonner Springs Nursing Home and later was a nursing home activities director in DeSoto KS. She retired in 2004 from Centers for Long Term Care in Olathe, KS.
Mrs. Byrd enjoyed taking care of the elderly in the nursing homes and on weekends spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed barbecue get togethers and was a diehard Chiefs fan.
Surviving relatives include her son, Gregory Baecht of Trenton; a brother, Jackie “Mike” Brown of Great Falls, MT; a daughter-in-law, Laura Hanes of Trenton; grandchildren, Gary Dean Hanes, Miranda Hanes, Shayna Hanes, Bryan Townsend and Nicole Townsend; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Marlee Hanes, Sophia Townsend, Abby Felton and Danny Felton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Baecht; a sister, Wina Eastman; a daughter, Lonna Townsend; and a son, Gary Dale Hanes.
Memorials are suggested to the mortuary.
