Rev. Carl Lee Whitacre, a 90-year-old Trenton resident, died at 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Saint Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe.
A family visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Rev. Whitacre was born on April 16, 1929 in Wayne, MI. The family moved to Chillicothe the following year. He graduated in 1947 from Chillicothe High School. He served as a Methodist minister for churches in Braymer, Harden, Independence, Smithville, Hamilton, St. Joseph, Appleton City, Montrose, Deepwater and Osceola. He semi-retired from the ministry in 1994 and fully retired in 2009.
Rev. Whitacre is survived by his wife Marilyn Leeper Whitacre; children, Marty McKee of Trenton, Mark Whitacre and his wife, Patti of Lebanon, MO, Mathew Whitacre and his wife, Jennifer of Bloomington, IN, Ann Davis and her husband, Kenny of Trenton and Mica Owen and her husband, Marshall of Braymer; step-children, Beth Leeper and George Michael of Trenton, Debbie Cribb and her husband, Tom of Trenton and Scott Leeper and Denise of Sterling CO; 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wives Sally Whitacre and Ann Whitacre; an infant son, Stephen Bruce; a stillborn son, Christian Ames, and infant great-granddaughter, Bentley Jo Silkwood.
Memorials are suggested to the North 65 Senior Center and may be left at or mailed to the mortuary.
