Robert Lee Baker, an 87-year-old resident of Casey, IA died on Friday, May 3, 2019 at his home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Rapids Street Baptist Church in Adel, IA. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service.
A family visitation will be from 5 to 7 o’clock tonight (Tuesday, May 7, 2019) at the church.
Mr. Baker was born on Feb. 23, 1932 in Grundy County, the son of Albert and Maude Traster Baker. He grew up in the Trenton area. He was married on June 3, 1953 to Ruby Allen. The couple made their home in numerous areas before settling north of Casey. Mr. Baker spent his career farming and working as a welder at a manufacturing plant. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, camping and mushroom hunting and was a skilled mechanic, especially working on old tractors. He enjoyed traveling to Branson and listening to Southern Gospel groups.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby; children, Doris (Joe) Teply of Mankato, MN, Brad (Don Easley) Baker of Des Moines, IA, Bruce (Cindy) Baker of Redfield, IA and Kim Baker of Des Moines; grandchildren, Carter (Paula) Teply, Melissa (Ryan Lund) Teply, Heather (Eric) Cooprider, Megan (Frank) Doherty, Angel (Devon) Osberg, Stormy (Sam Miller) Baker, Justin Baker and Cody Tonelli; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Joey, Danny, Emily, Dexter, Charlie, Ruby, Ellie, Maddie, Rosie, Denon, Dega, DJ, Owen and Levi; three brothers, Harold (Doris) Baker of Trenton, James (Faith) Baker of Trenton and Donald (Patty) Baker of Jameson; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; and a brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Sis Baker.
