The Trenton High School girls track and field team appears to be peaking at the right time. At the Marcus Hounsom Relays at Putnam County High School in Unionville on Friday, the Bulldogs posted 183.5 team points – their second-highest total of the season – to blow the field away and capture their seventh meet title of the season.
Clark County, with 166 points, was second and Putnam County’s total of 88 rounded out the top-three in the 10-team field.
Trenton won just four events at the meet, but had eight runner-up finishes and double-placed in 13 events to push their team total to the top of the standings.
Trenton’s relay teams led the way as the 4×400-meter team of Kristi Ewing, Lexi Gott, McKayla Blackburn and Lexi Whitaker won with a time of 4:15.98 and the 4×200-meter team of Ewing, Gott, Chandler Lynch and Whitaker was first with a time of 1:50.05.
