The Trenton High School boys tennis team continues to dominate opponents in dual action, this time taking an 8-1 win over St. Joseph LeBlond in action at St. Joseph on Friday.
The Bulldogs captured all six singles matches as well as two of three encounters in doubles to improve their season record 4-0.
Nick Shields blanked his opponent at number one singles while Gabe Swann, Jeremy Elliott, Isaac Harris and Weston Otto collected 8-1 wins in their singles matches. Creed Houghton was an 8-2 winner.
In doubles, Shields and Houghton teamed up for an 8-2 win at number one while Swann and Elliott won 8-0 at number two. Harris and Otto dropped a 6-8 decision at number three.
“Another nice win today. We were definitely not an error-free team, many games came to deuce, but the boys got the points needed when they had to,” Coach David Sager said. “Creed’s doubles win was his 53rd career doubles win, a big milestone for any high school tennis player.”
In junior varsity action, Trenton got singles wins from Jonin Villacampa, 6-3; Sebastian Brown, 7-6 (7-3 in the tiebreaker); and Riley Walker, 6-0. Cole Soptic fell 4-6. Doubles play saw Villacampa-Brown take wins of 6-4 and 6-1. Walker-Soptic dropped a 5-7 decision.
The tennis team was in action on Monday, hosting Chariton, IA. The Bulldogs will take part in the Kirksville Tournament on Thursday and Friday.
