Sharon Lucile Little Allen, an 87-year-old resident of rural Trenton, died at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, north of Osgood.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the mortuary.
Mrs. Allen was born on March 3, 1941 in North Kansas City, the daughter of Elmo Byron Sr. and Kathleen Lucile Wooderson Little. 
Following her father’s time in the Army, the family moved to Jamesport, where she began school at Red School, north of town. In 1953, the family moved to Laredo, where she completed high school. She received an associate in arts degree from North Central Missouri College, then pursued a degree in business from Truman State University in Kirksville. 
She was married to Bob Allen and became the mother of Richard Byron and Charles Mark Allen.  Following her years as a stay-at-home mom, she worked in various businesses in Trenton before becoming employed as a cashier at Grundy Electric Cooperative in 1977. She retired in 2008 as an accountant and medical and insurance specialist. In 2006 she received an award from the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives, recognizing her outstanding service. 
Sharon had a heart for people and cared deeply about her work, family and friends, gaining great joy in helping them as well as anyone who crossed her path. Through the years she had served as a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher and foster mother. She also volunteered at the women’s shelter and, until her death, at Wright Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First Christian Church of Trenton, PEO Sisterhood and the Rural Electric Cooperatives Accountant Association. 
She is survived by her son Mark; a daughter-in-law, Cindy; granddaughter Whitney (Jonathan) Bingham and great-grandson, Grayson; a sister, Donita Little; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Byron; and a son, Richard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Union Grove Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
