Rotary Hears About Trip To Israel

Feb 1, 2019 | Headline News

Josh Gottman, pastor at the First Baptist Church of Trenton, presented the program at Thursday’s meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club. Tom Witten introduced the program.
Gottman traveled to Israel on Dec. 29-Jan. 8 to visit the Holy Land, serving as an instructor through the Passages program, which organizes trips to Israel for groups of college students to help them learn about and understand the geo-political situation that is occurring there through the religious history of the area. Gottman was part of a group of 30 college students from throughout the U.S. The trip included visits to many religious sites throughout the region, including the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Magdala, the Jordan River, Nazareth and Jerusalem. They also visited the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane and the tomb from which Jesus is believed to have been resurrected. Discussions were held about the significance of each site visited and its relationship to what is now going on in the region.
During the business meeting, it was announced that the Trenton’s Got Talent fundraiser for the R-9 vocal and instrumental music departments will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 in the Trenton High School gym. The club will be providing ticket takers for the event.
Diane Lowrey and Lenny Klaver will be in charge of programs for February. Micah Landes has the March programs and Debbie Carman will be responsible for the April programs.
Dr. Klaver will present the program at the Feb. 7 meeting.
