Pauline Witten Jefferson

Pauline Witten Jefferson, a 94-year-old resident of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at Senior Care Health and Rehabilitation.
A celebration of her life is being planned for late spring in Wichita Falls.
As someone who believed that there is value in everything, her body has been donated to medical science at Southwestern Medical School.
She was born on Oct. 3, 1924 in rural northwestern Missouri near Jamesport, the daughter of Herbert Haden Witten and Ruey Helmandollar Witten. She attended public schools in Daviess and Grundy counties and graduated from Trenton High School in 1941. She also attended business school in Colorado Springs, CO.
Ms. Jefferson worked at Peterson Field in Colorado Springs from 1942 to 1944 and in Kansas City at the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft plant from 1944 to 1946. She worked again in Colorado Springs at Ent Air Force Base. She also worked at Argentia Air Base in Newfoundland in the early 1950’s and at Sheppard Air Force Base for 22 years.
Pauline was a card carrying member of the ACLU since 1972 and a supporter of the Southern Poverty Law Center since 1990. She was also a member of the Floral Heights Methodist Church and the Merle Anthony Sunday school class.
She is survived by her sons, Randy Jefferson and his wife, Kristi, of Aurora, CO, Steve Jefferson of Wichita Falls and Paul Jefferson and his wife, Laura, of Great Falls, MT; four granddaughters, Lindsay Jefferson of Aurora, Colleen Welcher of Oklahoma City, OK, Alicia Jefferson Ayers of Wichita Falls and Amanda Jefferson Sims of Haslet, TX; three great-grandchildren, Amos and Annalynn Ayers and Cannon Sims; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She is survived by two sisters, Caroline Stokes of Trenton and Claire Nisonger of Bloomington, IN.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Ann; a son, John Thomas; and two brothers, Dr. Maurice Witten and Charles Witten.
