Trenton JV Scores Road Wins

Jan 22, 2019 | Basketball, Sports & Recreation

The Trenton High School junior varsity basketball teams were in action on Monday night in Milan. Both the Trenton girls and boys returned home with wins as the Bulldogs took the girls game 35-31 and the boys game 43-39.
In the girls contest, Trenton found itself trailing 31-26, but the Bulldogs closed the game on a 9-0 run to rally back and remain undefeated on the season at 7-0. Chandler Lynch and Teya Cooksey led the Bulldogs with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Hannah Bowe added four points while Gracyn Rongey and Jenna Reeter each had three points.
Boys action saw the Bulldogs jump out to a 13-5 lead in the opening frame, then fend off multiple Milan rallies the rest of the way. The Wildcats closed the gap to a single point twice in the fourth quarter, but never led as Trenton held on for the four-point victory.
“There was a lot of toughness from the guys,” Trenton JV boys Coach Kameron Cool said. “They’ve put a lot of work in and really earned this one tonight.”
Camdyn Leeper led all scorers with 16 points. Trenton was balanced from there, getting nine points from Brycin Loyd, seven from Gavin Roeder, six from Preston Harris and five from Chase Otto. Trenton’s JV boys moved to 4-3 on the season with the win.
Both JV squads will return to action on Thursday night, playing host to South Harrison. Action tips off with the girls game at 6 o’clock and the boys contest will follow.
