The Grundy R-5 High School basketball teams split with Northwestern on Monday night, winning the girls game 70-48 while falling 79-34 in the boys game.
Morgan Axtell led the girls with 23 points, eight rebounds and three assists while Aubrey Gann added 19 points, six rebounds and four steals. The Panthers got 14 points, seven assists and four steals from Daya Allnutt and Alissa Webb had eight points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Brianna Carpio chipped in with six points, six steals and four assists.
The Grundy boys, meanwhile, got 12 points from Caden Gann and eight from Wayne Baxter.
Tonight’s games against Tina-Avalon have been cancelled. Grundy R-5 is scheduled to next see action on Thursday against Mercer.
