The Grundy County Nursing Home District Board of Directors approved employee raises during a meeting on Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments.
Administrator Donita Youtsey reported that the board voted to increase salaries across the board by 44 cents for all employees, effective Jan. 1. The increase was approved to coincide with the state minimum wage increase law approved by voters in November. To ensure the feasibility of the wage increase, 2019 merit raises will be put on hold and reviewed again in the upcoming year.
The board discussed continued work on energy projects involving boiler upgrades to a new HVAC system and window replacement. Information was also presented regarding the Sunnyview Foundation’s sale of Christmas lights and ornaments in honor or in memory of a loved one, which are placed on the Christmas tree at the nursing home. A minimum donation of $5 is being requested.
Harry Lockridge presented the 2017-18 audit, which had no negative comments. Mrs. Youtsey also presented the administrator’s report.
It was announced that Jim Cox has filed for re-election to the board, subject to the April 2 election. Persons can file for the board in the administator’s office of the nursing home during regular business hours.
An executive session was held to approve the Nov. 20 executive session minutes.
The next meeting will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 in the conference room of the Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments.
