Marvin Sharp, a 90-year-old Trenton resident, died at 10:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
His body will be cremated under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton. Future inurnment of his cremains will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Mr. Sharp was born on July 9, 1928 on a farm south of Trenton, the son of Loren Gilbert and Clara Leo Mitts Sharp. The family moved into Trenton when he was very young. He attended Trenton schools and graduated in 1946 from Trenton High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy from June 22, 1946 until April 20, 1948. He attended Trenton Junior College, now North Central Missouri College, the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he received an A.B. degree in 1952. He later attended the University of Kansas City Law School, now the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he received a law degree in 1959.
He returned to Trenton in 1961 to practice law with the firm of Pickett, Andereck and Hauck. He retired as a partner in the firm of Stockard, Andereck, Hauck, Sharp and Evans on Dec. 31, 1992. He served as counsel in the firm of Andereck, Evans, Milne, Widger and Johnson and successor firms until Dec. 31, 2009. He served as attorney for the city of Trenton from 1967 to 1969 and from 1971 to 1978. He also served as prosecuting attorney of Mercer County from March 1970 to August 1971.
Mr. Sharp had served on the board of directors of the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce, North Central Missouri College Foundation, the Wright Memorial Hospital and the American Bank of North Central Missouri. He had been a member of several other organizations and was a member of the Trenton First Baptist Church.
He was married on March 29, 1968 in Trenton to Jacqueline Crosswhite Jordin, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Robert Sharp of Wichita, KS; one sister, Edna Thompson of Moline, IL; three nephews; two nieces; and several great-nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leo Griffith.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, North 65 Senior Center or the Green Hills Women’s Shelter and left with or mailed to the funeral home.
