Betty Irene Manville, a 91-year-old resident of Gilman City, died on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5 at Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial was in the Christian Union Cemetery at Gilman City.
Mrs. Manville was born on Dec. 20, 1926 in Dysart, IA, the daughter of John and Ingeborg Bergstrand. She graduated in 1944 from Vinton High School. She worked for Farm Bureau, then moved to Bethany, where she married Gale Manville on Sept. 18, 1949. The couple spent their life farming north of Gilman City. She volunteered with the American Cancer Society and American Red Cross and was a member of Women of Agriculture and the Gilman City Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star for many years. She enjoyed being outside with her flowers and raising vegetables and also enjoyed sewing, entertaining her family with a song, crops, livestock and raising baby calves.
She is survived by her children, Glenda (Gary) Manville of Harrisonville, Jamie (Ed) Oram of Gilman City, Jana Manville of Four Seasons, Kelly (Michael) Folgate of Ridgeway and John Manville of Gilman City; grandchildren, Heath (Lindsay) Oram of Trenton, Jonathan (Samantha) Oram of Gilman City, Ross (Kathleen) Oram of Gilman City and Isabel Manville; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, David Manville and Douglas Manville; brothers, Johnny Bergstrand and Leonard Bergstrand; and her sister, Marjorie Kelly.
