The Grundy R-5 Junior High School basketball teams opened the season on Tuesday night in Galt, playing host to Meadville. Grundy came up short in both contests, dropping the girls game 42-19 and falling 21-20 in the boys game.
On the girls side, Daya Allnutt led the Panthers with 14 points and eight steals. Skylar Bonnett added five steals.
In boys action, Logan Foster had nine points and Corbin Axtell finished with five points.
Grundy’s teams will be back in action on Monday, traveling to Mercer to face the Cardinals.
