North Central Missouri College’s National Government classes will host a forum for Seventh District State Representative candidates Rusty Black and Dennis VanDyke on Monday, Oct. 15 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the lobby of Cross Hall. Black, the incumbent, is the Republican candidate while VanDyke, a Democrat, is the challenger.
The forum will be a question-only format with pre-screened questions submitted by students at NCMC. The forum is scheduled for one hour and each candidate will be given 10 to 15 identical questions and two minutes to respond to each.
The event is open to the public, NCMC students, faculty and staff and has been arranged for learning purposes and not a debate, with candidates answering only questions submitted by students. While the forum itself is not open for questions from the audience, there may be opportunities for discussion after the forum is over, at the discretion of the candidates.
Dr. Sterling Recker is the NCMC National Government class instructor.
