Irwin Fredrick Bacon, a 92-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at Hedrick Medical Center at Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe.
Mr. Bacon was born on April 11, 1926 in Kidder, the son of Henry Grant and Margaret Eva Hartell Bacon. He was a 1944 graduate of Kidder High School. He served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946, during World War II.
He was married on Jan. 25, 1964 in Chillicothe to Shirley Vanlandingham, who survives of the home. He owned and operated Bacon Sales from 1962 until 1985. He then worked as a salesman for Moore Equipment and Sydenstricker Farm and Lawn.
Mr. Bacon was a member of the First Christian Church at Chillicothe and the Vern R. Glick American Legion Post #25.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Tom Bacon and his wife, Ronda of Jamesport; one daughter, Shari Wyatt and her husband, Greg of McKinney, TX; four grandchildren, Philip Lowrey and his wife, Natalie of Columbia, Casey Lowrey and his wife, Jennifer of McKinney, Charlie Bacon and his wife, Savannah of Trenton and Callie Bacon of Trenton; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Vetter of Portland, OR; a niece, Zelma Cleaveland of Chillicothe; and great-niece, Nicole Booth and her husband, David of Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Luella Dowell; and niece, Lisa Lathrom.
